QuickTube

Chat with Any YouTube Video

Ask a YouTube video a question and get an answer drawn from what is actually said in it. No more scrubbing through an hour of footage to find one explanation.

How it works

  1. 1

    Paste the video link

Any public YouTube video with captions.

  2. 2

    Open the Chat tab

QuickTube loads the transcript so the AI can answer from the video itself.

  3. 3

    Ask anything

Ask for an explanation, a definition, the steps in a tutorial, or what a speaker said about a topic.

What you get

Answers from the transcript

Responses are grounded in what the video says rather than general knowledge.

Follow-up questions

Keep the conversation going: the chat remembers what you already asked.

Chat as a speaker

QuickTube can detect the people in a video so you can ask questions in the voice of a specific speaker.

Pairs with the summary

Read the summary for the overview, then ask the chat about the parts you want to go deeper on.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ask questions about a YouTube video?

Yes. After fetching a video, open the Chat tab and ask anything about its content. Answers are based on the video transcript, and each message costs 1 credit.

Is QuickTube free?

Fetching and downloading YouTube transcripts in the QuickTube web app is free and needs no account. AI features such as summaries, highlights, quizzes and chat use credits. Visitors without an account get 30 free AI generations, and new accounts receive 400 free credits. More credits are available as one-time packs, with no subscription.

Which YouTube videos work?

Any public YouTube video that has captions, whether uploaded by the creator or auto-generated by YouTube. Private videos and videos with captions turned off cannot be transcribed.

Do I need an account?

No. You can fetch transcripts and try the AI features without signing up. Creating a free account adds 400 credits, saves your analysis history, and lets you share analyses and use the API.

Can AI agents use QuickTube?

Yes. QuickTube has a REST API and an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, installable with "pip install quicktube-mcp", that let tools such as Claude Code and Claude Desktop fetch transcripts, summarize videos and generate quizzes. Fetching a transcript through the API costs 1 credit.
